Lorenzo Desideri, PhD, PsyD, works as researcher and assistive technology (AT) consultant for AIAS Bologna. He has obtained a PhD from Maastricht University, the Netherlands, on research in the field of quality assurance in AT service delivery targeting children with multiple disabilities. Lorenzo also specialized in health psychology (with a focus on AT and disability) at the University of Bologna. Over the last 10 years, he has developed and validated a framework for AT service delivery quality assurance which emphasizes child-centered outcome evaluation as a core aspect of quality of AT-related services and provision. Recently, Lorenzo has also contributed to the translation and preliminary validation of the family impact of AT scale for AAC (FIATS-AAC) in the Italian context. Over the last 6 months he has coordinated the implementation of the WHO rATA survey in Italy, involving a sample of over 10.000 respondents. Lorenzo is currently serving as Associate Editor of the journal “RESNA Assistive Technology” and “Disability and Rehabilitation: Assistive Technology”.
